Oil Pump Overhaul: Removal
- Disconnect the support struts from both sides of the pivot ball (bolted to the hood). Secure the hood in a vertical position. Install the right side pivot ball into the lower threaded hole.NOTE: Do not attempt to close the hood with the support strut in the vertical position, as it will damage the support strut and hood.
- Drain the engine oil .
- Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook (A) to the engine hanger (B). Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.NOTE:
- Be careful when working around the windshield.
- AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking two cross section bars.
- Remove the timing belt:
- J35Z6 engine (see TIMING BELT REMOVAL )
- J37A4 engine (see TIMING BELT REMOVAL )
- Remove the timing belt drive pulley from the crankshaft:
- J35Z6 engine (see TIMING BELT DRIVE PULLEY REPLACEMENT )
- J37A4 engine (see TIMING BELT DRIVE PULLEY REPLACEMENT )
- Remove the rocker arm oil control solenoid/oil filter assembly (see CRANKSHAFT AND PISTON REMOVAL ).
- Remove the oil pan (see OIL PAN REMOVAL ).
- Remove the oil strainer (A).
- Remove the mounting bolts, then remove the oil pump assembly (B).
