Oil Pump Overhaul: Removal

  1. Disconnect the support struts from both sides of the pivot ball (bolted to the hood). Secure the hood in a vertical position. Install the right side pivot ball into the lower threaded hole.
    NOTE: Do not attempt to close the hood with the support strut in the vertical position, as it will damage the support strut and hood.

  2. Drain the engine oil .
  3. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256) onto the vehicle as shown, and attach the hook (A) to the engine hanger (B). Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand, and lift and support the engine/transmission.
    NOTE:
    • Be careful when working around the windshield.
    • AAR-T1256 two sets required for stacking two cross section bars.

  4. Remove the timing belt:
  5. Remove the timing belt drive pulley from the crankshaft:
  6. Remove the rocker arm oil control solenoid/oil filter assembly (see CRANKSHAFT AND PISTON REMOVAL ).
  7. Remove the oil pan (see OIL PAN REMOVAL ).
  8. Remove the oil strainer (A).

  9. Remove the mounting bolts, then remove the oil pump assembly (B).
