Electrical Compass Troubleshooting
- Check the No. 12 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES -Go to step 2.
NO -Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. 12 (7.5 A) fuse circuit. ■
- Check if the electrical compass unit 6P connector is properly connected.
Is the connector properly connected?
YES -Go to step 3.
NO -Reconnect the connector, and recheck. ■
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Measure the voltage between electrical compass unit 6P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.Fig 1: Measuring Voltage Between Electrical Compass Unit 6P Connector Terminal No. 1 And Body Ground

Is there battery voltage?
YES -Go to step 5.
NO -Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between electrical compass unit 6P connector terminal No. 1 and the No. 12 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. ■

Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -Go to step 6.
NO -Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between electrical compass unit 6P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground (G651); with SH-AWD (see CONNECTOR TO FUSE/RELAY BOX INDEX ), without SH-AWD (see CONNECTOR TO FUSE/RELAY BOX INDEX ). ■
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the electrical compass unit 6P connector and audio unit connector D (20P).
- Check for continuity between the electrical compass unit 6P connector and body ground according to the table.
Electrical compass unit connector Wire color 3 LT BLU 4 PNK 5 ORN 6 RED Is there continuity?
YES -Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the electrical compass unit and the audio unit. ■
NO -Go to step 9.
- Check for continuity between the electrical compass unit 6P connector and audio unit connector D (20P) according to the table.

YES -Repair an open in the wire(s) between the electrical compass unit and the audio unit. ■
NO -Substitute a known-good electrical compass unit (see ), and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original electrical compass unit . If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). ■
