Maintenance Sub Items

MAINTENANCE SUB ITEMS REFERENCE CHART

Number Maintenance Sub Items
1 Rotate tires, and check tire inflation and condition.
  • Follow the pattern shown in the Owner's Manual.
2 Replace air cleaner element (see AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
  • If the vehicle is driven primarily in dusty conditions, replace every 15, 000 miles (24, 000 km).
Replace dust and pollen filter (see DUST AND POLLEN FILTER REPLACEMENT )
  • If the vehicle is driven mostly in areas that have high concentrations of dust, pollen, or soot in the air, replace every 15, 000 miles (24, 000 km).
  • Replace filter whenever airflow from the heating and air conditioning system is less than normal.
Inspect drive belt (see DRIVE BELT INSPECTION )
  • Look for cracks and damage, and inspect auto-tensioner; no adjustment is needed.
3 Replace automatic transmission fluid (see ATF REPLACEMENT ) and transfer fluid (see TRANSFER ASSEMBLY FLUID REPLACEMENT )
  • Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or towing trailer results in higher transmission and transfer temperatures. This requires transmission and transfer fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If the vehicle is regularly driven in these conditions, replace the transmission and transfer fluid at 60, 000 miles (100, 000 km), then every 30, 000 miles (48, 000 km).
  • Automatic transmission fluid capacity: 2.8 L (3.0 US qt)

    Use Acura ATF DW-1.

  • Transfer assembly fluid capacity: 0.43 L (0.45 US qt)

Use hypoid gear oil GL4 or GL5.

4 Replace spark plugs (see IGNITION COIL AND SPARK PLUG REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
  • Use IZKR7B-11S (NGK) or SXU22HCR11S (DENSO).
Replace timing belt (see TIMING BELT REPLACEMENT ) and inspect water pump (see WATER PUMP INSPECTION )
  • If the vehicle is regularly driven in very high temperatures (over 110°F, 43°C), or in very low temperatures (under -20°F, -29°C), replace every 60, 000 miles (USA)/100, 000 km (Canada).
Inspect valve clearance (cold) (see VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT )
  • Intake : 0.20-0.24 mm (0.008-0.009 in)
  • Exhaust: 0.28-0.32 mm (0.011-0.013 in)
5 Replace engine coolant (see COOLANT REPLACEMENT )
  • Capacity, including the reservoir is 6.0 L (1.59 US gal)
  • Use Acura Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2.
6 Replace rear differential fluid (see REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT )
  • Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or trailer towing results in higher level of mechanical (shear) stress to fluid. This requires differential fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If the vehicle is regularly driven in these conditions, have the differential fluid changed at 7, 500 miles (12, 000 km), thereafter every 15, 000 miles (24, 000 km).
  • Capacity:

  • Clutch chambers : 2.66 L (2.8 US qt)
  • Hypoid gear chamber: 0.73 L (0.77 US qt)

Use Acura All-Wheel Drive Fluid (DPSF)
