Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection: Disconnection
NOTE:
Some systems store data in memory (including seat position, mirror position, etc) that is lost when the battery is disconnected Do the following procedures before disconnecting the battery
- Make sure you have the anti-theft code(s) for the audio system and/or the audio-navigation system (if equipped)
- If you are replacing the audio unit and/or the audio-navigation unit, write down the audio presets (AM and FM), and the XM audio presets (if equipped)
- Make sure the ignition switch is in LOCK (0), or the vehicle ignition in the OFF mode
- Remove the bulkhead cover (see ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER REPLACEMENT )
- Disconnect and isolate the negative cable from the batteryNOTE: Always disconnect the negative cable from the battery first
- Disconnect the positive cable from the battery
