Fuel Tank Replacement

  1. Drain the fuel tank (see FUEL TANK DRAINING  ).
  2. Reinstall the fuel tank unit without connecting quick-connect fittings and fuel tank unit 4P connector.
  3. Disconnect the secondary fuel gauge sending unit 4P connector (see step  6).
  4. Remove the fuel fill pipe cover (A).

  5. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting (B).
  6. Raise the vehicle on a lift (see LIFT AND SUPPORT POINTS ).
  7. Disconnect the fuel fill tube (A) from the fuel tank. Slide back the clamp, then twist the tube as you pull to avoid damage it.

  8. Disconnect the fuel vent tube (A).

  9. Remove the exhaust pipe (see EXHAUST PIPE AND MUFFLER REPLACEMENT ).
  10. With SH-AWD: Remove the propeller shaft (see PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL ).
  11. Remove the fuel tank cover (A).

  12. Place a jack or support under the fuel tank (B).
  13. Remove the strap bolts and straps (C).
  14. Remove the fuel tank.
  15. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
