DTC P0236: Turbocharger Boost Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem: General Description
This turbocharged engine is equipped with three absolute pressure sensors.
Normal operating conditions:
- The barometric pressure (BARO) sensor value and the turbocharger boost sensor value are the same when there is no boost.
- The turbocharger boost sensor value and the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor value are similar at high throttle openings (boost).
When two of the compared sensor values above differ by a specified value or more, a sensor abnormality is detected.
- (A) No boost condition: Either the BARO sensor or the turbocharger boost sensor is abnormal. (P1233)
- (B) Large throttle opening area (boost): Either the turbocharger boost sensor or the MAP sensor is abnormal. (P1234)
- When abnormal values are detected at both areas (A) and (B), turbocharger boost sensor abnormality is identified. (P0236)
- When the turbocharger boost sensor or the MAP sensor does not change a specified value or more, even when transitioning from (A) to (B) or from (B) to (A), a stuck sensor output value is detected (turbocharger boost sensor: P0236, MAP Sensor P1129).
