Brake Booster Replacement

- Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION )
- Remove the master cylinder (see MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT )
- Remove the cowl cover (see FRONT BULKHEAD BRACE COVER REPLACEMENT )
- Remove the upper cover (A), then remove the two positive (+) terminals (B)
- Move the under-hood fuse/relay box (C) aside
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (A) from the brake booster
- Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box bracket (A), then remove the engine wire harness clamps (B)
- Remove the brake lines (A) from the hose clamp (B)
- Remove the driver's dashboard undercover (see DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Remove the lock pin (A) and the clevis pin (B), then disconnect the yoke from the brake pedal
- Remove the brake booster mounting nuts (C)
- Remove the brake booster (A) from the engine compartmentNOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the brake booster mounting surfaces and the threads on the booster stud
- Be careful not to bend or damage the brake lines
NOTE: Use a new brake booster gasket (B) during reassembly - Install the brake booster in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
- Install the master cylinder after installing the brake booster (see MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT )
- Check the brake pedal height and free play after installing the master cylinder, and adjust it if necessary (see BRAKE PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH ADJUSTMENT )
- Bleed the brake system (see BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING )
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION )
