Brake Booster Replacement

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION )
  2. Remove the master cylinder (see MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT )
  3. Remove the cowl cover (see FRONT BULKHEAD BRACE COVER REPLACEMENT )
  4. Remove the upper cover (A), then remove the two positive (+) terminals (B)

  5. Move the under-hood fuse/relay box (C) aside
  6. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (A) from the brake booster

  7. Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box bracket (A), then remove the engine wire harness clamps (B)

  8. Remove the brake lines (A) from the hose clamp (B)

  9. Remove the driver's dashboard undercover (see DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
  10. Remove the lock pin (A) and the clevis pin (B), then disconnect the yoke from the brake pedal

  11. Remove the brake booster mounting nuts (C)
  12. Remove the brake booster (A) from the engine compartment
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the brake booster mounting surfaces and the threads on the booster stud
    • Be careful not to bend or damage the brake lines
    NOTE: Use a new brake booster gasket (B) during reassembly

  13. Install the brake booster in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
  14. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION AND RECONNECTION )
