Output Shaft (Countershaft) Speed Sensor Replacement

  1. Raise the vehicle upon a lift, or apply the parking brake, block the rear wheels, and raise the front of the vehicle. Make sure it is securely supported.
  2. Remove the splash shield (see FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
  3. Disconnect the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor connector, and remove the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor.

  4. Install a new O-ring (A) on the new output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor (B), then install the output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor in the transmission housing.
  5. Check the connector for rust, dirt, or oil, then connect the connector securely.
  6. Install the splash shield (see FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT ).
