Column Cover Removal/Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

Put on gloves to protect your hands.
Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
Take care not to scratch the dashboard, and related parts.

Release the tilt/telescopic lock lever, and adjust the steering wheel to full tilt down position and to the full telescopic out position.
Turn the steering wheel to left and remove the screw (A). Release the hook (B) of the upper column cover (C) while pushing the cover from the front side.

Turn the steering wheel to the right and remove the screw (D). Release the hook (E) of the upper column cover is in the same as the step 2.
Separate the upper column cover from the lower column cover by pulling up it lightly. Release the hooks (F) of the cover to remove it from the lower column cover (G).
Remove the screws (H, I), and remove the lower column cover from the steering column.
Install the covers in the reverse order of removal, and push the hooks into place securely.
