Tailgate Release Actuator Test

  1. Open the tailgate.
  2. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see TAILGATE LOWER TRIM REPLACEMENT ).
  3. Disconnect the 2P connector from the tailgate latch.

  4. Check actuator operation by connecting power to the No. 2 terminal and ground to the No. 1 terminal momentarily. The actuator should work.
  5. If the actuator does not work, replace the tailgate latch (see HOOD RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT TAILGATE LATCH REPLACEMENT ).
