DTC P0335, P0385: CKP Sensor A No Signal (2006 Model); CKP Sensor B No Signal (2006 Model)

NOTE:

Information marked with an asterisk (*) applies to CKP sensor B.
Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION .

Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Clear the DTC with the HDS.
Start the engine.
Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC P0335 and/or P0385* indicated?
1. YES - Go to step 5.
2. NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CKP sensor A/B and the ECM/PCM.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect CKP sensor A/B 6P connector.
Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Measure voltage between CKP sensor A/B 6P connector terminal No. 6 (No. 3)* and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
1. YES - Go to step 9.
2. NO - Repair open in the wire between CKP sensor A/B and PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN), then go to step 18.
Measure voltage between CKP sensor A/B 6P connector terminal No. 5 (No. 2)* and body ground.

Is there about 5 V?
1. YES - Go to step 10.
2. NO - Go to step 11.
Measure voltage between CKP sensor A/B 6P connector terminals No. 4 (No. 1)* and No. 6 (No. 3)*.

Is there battery voltage?
1. YES - Go to step 16.
2. NO - Repair open in the wire between CKP sensor A/B and G101, then go to step 18.
Measure voltage between ECM/PCM connector terminal B17 (B1)* and body ground.

Is there about 5 V?
1. YES - Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (B17(B1)*) and CKP sensor A/B, then go to step 18.
2. NO - Go to step 12.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
Disconnect ECM/PCM connector B (24P).
Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal B17 (B1)* and body ground.

Is there continuity?
1. YES - Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (B17 (B1)*) and CKP sensor A/B, then go to step 18.
2. NO - Go to step 25.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Replace the CKP sensor (see MAP SENSOR REPLACEMENT ).
Reconnect all connectors.
Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
Clear the CKP pattern with the HDS.
Do the ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE .
Do the CKP pattern learn procedure (see CRANK (CKP) PATTERN CLEAR/CRANK (CKP) PATTERN LEARN ).
Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?
1. YES - If DTC P0335 and/or P0385* is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at CKP sensor A/B and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
2. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT CIRCUITS AT THE ECM/PCM ).
Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?
1. YES - If DTC P0335 and/or P0385* is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at CKP sensor A/B and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
2. NO - If the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM (see ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT ).
