Radiator Fan Switch

  1. Remove the radiator fan switch "A" from the water passage, radiator fan switch "B" from the cylinder head and radiator fan switch "C" from the radiator. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION  .
  2. Suspend each radiator fan switch in a container of water. See Fig 1 . Heat the water and check the temperature with a thermometer. Do not let the thermometer touch the bottom of the hot container.
  3. Measure the continuity between terminal "A" and terminal "B" and compare to specifications. See RADIATOR FAN CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS  .

Application Temperature - °F (°C)
Switch A (1) 196-203 (91-95)
Switch B (2) 212-226 (100-108)
Switch C (2) 205-216 (96-102)
(1) Switch opens when temperature drops to 5-15°F (3-8°C) less than continuity temperature.
(2) Switch opens when temperature drops to 5-23°F (3-13°C) less than continuity temperature.
