Description & Operation

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. When servicing vehicle, use care to avoid accidental air bag deployment. SIR system-related components are located in various locations throughout interior of vehicle, depending on application. Do not use electrical test equipment on or near these circuits. If necessary, deactivate SIR system before servicing components. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS.
NOTE: On 3.2CL with Driver Position Memory System (DPMS) power mirrors, also see DRIVER'S POSITION MEMORY SYSTEM - 3.2CL article.

Side power mirrors are controlled by dual switch located on driver's door panel. The left/right switch directs current or ground to desired mirror. The 4-position switch directs current or ground to one of 2 motors located in the mirror/motor assembly. Some models are equipped with mirror defoggers. See REAR WINDOW & MIRROR DEFOGGERS - 3.2CL article.

Models are equipped with an inside automatic day/night mirror. The automatic day/night mirror has a front and rear-facing lux (illumination) level sensor and a control unit. The control unit compares the lux levels of front (outside) of vehicle and headlights of the trailing vehicle, and controls the electro-chromic gel of the mirror to dim and reduce glare. The dimming function is turned off automatically when transmission is in reverse, or can be turned off manually with the off button located at bottom of mirror.
