Immobilizer System Test
NOTE:
Perform this test only if vehicle does not start after programming Powertrain Control Module (PCM) using Honda PGM Tester.
- Using scan tool, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If DTC P1607 is not present, go to next step. If DTC P1607 is present, replace PCM. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Rewrite or reprogram replacement PCM using Honda PGM Tester.
- Turn ignition on using proper ignition key. Check immobilizer indicator light. If indicator light is flashing, go to next step. If indicator light is not flashing, check for blown No. 13 (7.5-amp) fuse in passenger's underdash fuse/relay block, faulty indicator light bulb or open in Pink wire between instrument cluster assembly and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as necessary.
- Turn ignition off. Remove steering covers and disconnect immobilizer receiver 5-pin harness connector. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and 5-pin harness connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Black wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check for blown fuse No. 1 (15-amp), located in driver's underdash fuse/relay box. Check for blown fuse No. 46 (15-amp), located in underhood fuse/relay block. Check for open in Yellow/Black wire between PGM-FI main relay and immobilizer receiver. Check for faulty PGM-FI main relay. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . Repair as necessary.
- Check for continuity between ground and immobilizer receiver 5-pin harness connector terminal No. 4 (Brown/Black wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Brown/Black wire between immobilizer receiver and ground connector (G101). See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
- Check continuity of Red wire between immobilizer receiver 5-pin harness connector terminal No. 2 and PCM harness connector "E" terminal No. 2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Red wire between immobilizer receiver and PCM harness connector "E".NOTE: If PCM is replaced or substituted, it must be rewritten (programmed) using Honda PGM Tester.
- Check continuity of Blue wire between immobilizer receiver 5-pin harness connector terminal No. 3 and PCM harness connector "E" terminal No. 12. If continuity exists, replace immobilizer receiver. See IMMOBILIZER RECEIVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Blue wire between immobilizer receiver and PCM harness connector "E".
