Piston, Pin & Connecting Rod: Inspection

  1. Measure the diameter of the piston pin. See Fig 1 and PISTON PIN DIAMETER  table.
  2. Zero the dial indicator to the piston pin diameter. See Fig 2.
  3. Check the difference between the piston pin diameter and piston pin hole diameter on the piston. See Fig 3 and PISTON PIN-TO-PISTON CLEARANCE  table.
  4. Measure the piston pin-to-connecting rod clearance. See Fig 4 and PISTON PIN-TO-CONNECTING ROD CLEARANCE  table.
