Retrieving DTC Using Scan Tool

  1. If DTC exists, "D4" indicator light on A/T gear position indicator on instrument panel will blink when ignition is turned on. To retrieve DTC using scan tool, turn ignition off.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located near ashtray. Turn ignition on. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions. Scan tool will indicate DTC.
  3. Once DTC is obtained, turn ignition off. Determine probable cause and symptom. See DTC/FLASH CODE DEFINITIONS  table. Repair as necessary. See DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  .
  4. If any other DTCs except those listed are displayed, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If "D4" indicator light does not flash or stays on, see "D4" INDICATOR LIGHT INOPERATIVE  or "D4" INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINS ON  under SYMPTOM TESTS.
