Heated seat system consists of temperature control switches, circuit breakers, control relays, heating elements, thermostats, and wiring. Seat temperature is selected using control switches and automatically controlled via a thermostat built into each seat cushion heater. On driver's seat there is one seat heater located in the seat-back and one in the seat cushion. On MDX and 3.2CL passenger's seat, there are 2 seat heaters in the seat cushion and no heater in the seat-back. On 3.2TL and 3.5RL passenger's seat, there is one heater in the seat cushion and no heater in the seat-back.

On MDX, system is powered through fuse No. 4 (7.5-amp) located in driver's underdash fuse/relay box, and fuse No. 14 (20-amp) located in passenger's underdash fuse/relay box. On 3.2CL and 3.2TL, system is powered through fuse No. 4 (7.5-amp) located in driver's underdash fuse/relay box, and fuse No. 3 (20-amp) located in passenger's underdash fuse/relay box. On 3.5RL, system is powered through fuse No. 19 (7.5-amp) and fuse No. 5 (20-amp), located in underdash fuse/relay box. All models use a 3-way rocker type switch with HI, OFF and LO settings to control seat temperature.

Thermostats monitor seat temperature and will open circuit at a specified temperature. On 3.5RL, thermostat and circuit breaker opens circuit at about 122°F (50°C). On all other models, thermostat closes at less than 93°F (34°C) and opens circuit at about 109°F (43°C). Circuit breakers built into heaters close at less than 86°F (30°C) and opens at greater than 122°F (50°C).
