Self-Diagnosis Function

The EPS control unit monitors system inputs and outputs, and driving current of motor. If there is a problem in system, control unit turns system off by actuating relay in power unit. Power assist stops and normal manual steering operation resumes. The control unit also turns EPS indicator light on to alert driver, and memorizes problem in form of a code. Connecting terminals of service check connector with a jumper wire enables EPS indicator light to blink problem code when ignition switch is turned on.
