Retrieving DTCS

NOTE: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may also be referred to as problem code. This operation can also be done with the Honda PGM Tester. Connect the Honda PGM Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  1. Connect the SCS service connector to the service check connector (2P) under the glove box. See Fig 1 .
  2. NOTE: If the brake pedal is depressed when turning the ignition switch ON (II), the system shifts to the DTC clearing mode.
  3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not start the engine.
  4. NOTE: If the DTC is not memorized, the ABS indicator light goes off for 3.6 seconds and then stays on. If the ABS indicator continues on, troubleshoot for problem. See FigureFigure .
  5. The ABS indicator comes on for about two seconds and goes off. Then it will indicate the DTC.
  6. NOTE: The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will stay on after the engine is started if the SCS service connector is connected.
  7. Turn the ignition switch OFF, remove the SCS service connector.
