A/T Gear Position Switch

  1. Remove front console. A/T gear position switch is located on right side of gearshift lever mechanism. Disconnect A/T gear position switch Gray 14-pin connector.
  2. Loosen 2 A/T gear position switch mounting bolts. Slowly slide switch toward "P" position, to within 0.08" (2 mm), while checking for continuity between A/T gear position switch 14-pin connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 12 (Green/White wire). See Fig 1 .
  3. If continuity exists, A/T gear position switch is okay. Tighten switch mounting bolts. Verify vehicle starts with gearshift lever in "P" and "N" positions. If continuity does not exist, check gearshift lever detent and bracket for damage. If no damage exists, replace A/T gear position switch. See A/T GEAR POSITION SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
