  2. If engine stalls, restart engine with accelerator pedal slightly depressed. Stabilize engine at 1000 RPM and slowly allow engine to return to idle. Check base idle speed with transmission in Neutral or Park and all accessories, including cooling fan, off. Adjust base idle speed if not as specified. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS . See Figure. After adjusting idle speed, ensure ignition timing is still within specification.
  3. Turn ignition off. Reconnect 2-pin IAC valve connector. Remove BACK-UP (RADIO) fuse (7.5-amp) in main underhood fuse box for 10 seconds to reset ECM/PCM. Start engine, and allow to idle for one minute with no loads. Check curb idle speed. Curb idle speed should be as specified. See IDLE SPEED SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Turn headlights on low and other accessories off. Idle engine for one minute and check load idle speed. Go to next step.
  5. Turn headlights off, blower motor switch to high and A/C on. Idle engine for one minute and check load idle speed again. Load idle speed should be 770-870 RPM on M/T, or 790-890 RPM on A/T. If idle speed is not as specified, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
