Gearshift Lever Position Indicator Input: 3.2TL

  1. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect instrument cluster 30-pin connector "A" and 14-pin connector "C". Inspect connectors and terminals. Check for bent, loose or corroded terminals. Perform gearshift lever position indicator input test "A". On 4-speed transmission, see Fig 1. On 5-speed transmission, see Fig 2. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If gearshift lever position indicator inputs are okay, go to next step.
  2. Reconnect instrument cluster 30-pin connector "A" and 14-pin connector "C". Perform input test "B" as specified at back side of instrument cluster (backprobe). On 4-speed transmission, see Fig 1. On 5-speed transmission, see Fig 2. Repair as necessary. If no problems are found, replace instrument cluster printed circuit board and recheck system.
