Retrieving DTCs Using MIL

  1. The blinking of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) with the SCS service connector connected will also indicate DTCs. The Check Engine light can indicate any number of simultaneous component problems by blinking separate codes, one after another.
  2. Problem codes 1 through 9 are indicated by individual short blinks. Problem codes 10 and up are indicated by a series of long and short blinks. The number of long blinks indicates the first digit and the number of short blinks indicates the second digit. See Fig 1 .

  3. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  and begin diagnosis.
