Symptoms Of Faulty Wake-Up Communication Line

- An open in a communication line will cause most systems to not operate because one multiplex control unit cannot wake up other multiplex control units. Multiplex control units that are not awake will wake up when a related switch is operated. Turning ignition switch to ON position will wake up all multiplex control units.
- If a communication line is shorted to ground:
- Driver's and passenger's multiplex control units will not wake up except when ignition is in ON position and a wake-up signal from door multiplex control unit is received.
- Driver's multiplex control unit can wake up by a switch operation related to door multiplex control unit, but passenger's multiplex control unit cannot wake up by a switch operation.
- Turning ignition switch to ON position will wake up all multiplex control units.
- If a communication line is shorted to battery voltage:
- Most systems will not operate because one multiplex control unit cannot wake up other multiplex control units.
- Possible blown fuse or a faulty transistor in multiplex control unit.
- One multiplex control unit can wake up from a related switch operation, but other multiplex control units cannot wake up.
- Driver's multiplex control unit can wake up by a switch operation related to door multiplex control unit, but passenger's multiplex control unit cannot wake up by a switch operation.
- Turning ignition switch to ON position will wake up all multiplex control units.
