Retrieving DTC Using Scan Tool

  1. If fault code exists, "D4" light on A/T gear position on instrument panel will blink when ignition is turned on. To retrieve DTC using scan tool, turn ignition off.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC), located near ashtray. Turn ignition on. Scan tool will indicate DTC. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Once DTC is obtained, turn ignition off. Determine probable cause and symptom. See DTC/FLASH CODE IDENTIFICATION  table. Repair as necessary. See DTC/FLASH CODE TESTS  .
  4. If any other fault codes except those listed are displayed, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. For trouble shooting of fault codes, see appropriate DTC/FLASH CODE TESTS  . If "D4" light does not flash or stays on, see DTC P0730/FLASH CODE 41  test.
