Abs Indicator Light Does Not Come On

  1. If ABS indicator light does not come on when ignition is turned on, check operation of brake system light. If brake system light does not come on, go to next step. If brake system light comes on, circuit between battery and gauge assembly is okay, go to step 3).
  2. Check BACK-UP LIGHTS fuse (10-amp) in underdash fuse block. Replace fuse if blown, and retest system. If fuse is okay, disconnect 16-pin connector from gauge assembly. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at gauge assembly connector terminal No. 9 (Yellow wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, turn ignition off. Check wiring between gauge assembly and fuse block for an open. If wiring is okay, replace fuse block.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove gauge assembly. Check ABS indicator bulb in gauge assembly. Replace bulb if faulty. If bulb is okay, reconnect gauge assembly connector. Connect jumper wire from ground to gauge assembly connector terminal No. 7 (Blue/Red wire). See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If ABS indicator light does not come on, replace printed circuit in gauge assembly.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect 22-pin connector from ABS control unit (located behind glove box). Turn ignition on. Connect jumper wire from ground to ABS control unit connector terminal No. 2 (Blue/Red wire). See Figure . If ABS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If ABS indicator light does not come on, repair open in Blue/Red wire between gauge assembly and ABS control unit.
  5. Turn ignition off. Reconnect ABS control unit connector. Turn ignition on. Connect jumper wire from ground to ABS control unit 22-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If ABS indicator light does not come on, replace ABS control unit. If ABS indicator light comes on, repair open between ABS control unit connector terminal No. 1 and ground.
