Abs Indicator Light Does Not Come On
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Acura 3.5RL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- If ABS indicator light does not come on when ignition is turned on, check operation of brake system light. If brake system light does not come on, go to next step. If brake system light comes on, circuit between battery and gauge assembly is okay, go to step 5).
- Check METER fuse (15-amp) in underhood fuse/relay block. See Figure . Replace fuse if blown, and retest system. If fuse is okay, check METER fuse (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay block. Replace fuse if blown, and retest system. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect gauge assembly 22-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and gauge assembly 22-pin connector terminal No. 22 (White/Red wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to step 5). If battery voltage does not exist, remove meter relay in underhood relay block "C". See Figure . Test relay for being stuck off. See RELAY TEST under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. See Figure . Replace relay as necessary. If relay tests okay, go to next step.
- Check for open circuit between gauge assembly and METER fuse (15-amp) in underhood fuse/relay block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If power circuit is okay, check for open circuit between ground and METER fuse (7.5-amp) in underdash fuse/relay block. Repair as necessary. If power and ground circuits are okay, check for an open in underdash and underhood fuse/relay blocks.
- Turn ignition off. Remove gauge assembly and check ABS indicator bulb. Replace bulb if faulty, and retest system. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
- Reconnect gauge assembly 22-pin connector. Connect a jumper wire from ground to gauge assembly 30-pin connector terminal No. 22 (Blue/White wire). See Fig 2 . Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light does not come on, replace printed circuit on gauge assembly. If ABS indicator light comes on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and disconnect ABS control unit 22-pin and 26-pin connectors. Turn ignition on. Connect a jumper wire from ground to ABS control unit 22-pin connector terminal No. 20 (Blue/White wire). See Fig 4 . If ABS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If ABS indicator light does not come on, repair open in Blue/White wire between ABS control unit and gauge assembly. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect ABS control unit connectors. Connect a jumper wire from ground to ABS control unit 22-pin connector terminal No. 22 (Black wire). See Fig 4 . Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light does not come on, check for poor connection at ABS control unit. If connections are okay, replace ABS control unit. If ABS indicator light comes on, repair open in ground circuit to ABS control unit 22-pin connector terminal No. 22 and 26-pin connector terminal No. 26. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
