Code E: Air Mix Control Motor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Acura 3.2TL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Disconnect air mix control motor 5-pin connector. Test air mix control motor. See AIR MIX CONTROL MOTOR TESTING . If air mix control motor is okay, go to step 3). If air mix control motor is not okay, remove air mix control motor. See AIR MIX CONTROL MOTOR R & I .
- Check air mix control motor linkage and doors for smooth operation. If doors and linkage operate smoothly, replace air mix control motor. If doors and linkage DO NOT operate smoothly, repair air mix control motor doors and linkage.
- Remove climate control unit. Disconnect climate control unit 12-pin and 20-pin connector. Individually check for continuity between ground and 12-pin connector terminal No. 10 and 11, and between the ground and 20-pin connector terminal No. 2, 12, 17. See Figure .
- If continuity exists, repair shorted wire(s) between climate control unit and air mix control motor. If continuity does not exist, individually check for voltage at terminal No. 10 and 11 of 12-pin connector, and terminal No. 2, 12, and 17 of 20-pin connector.
- If voltage exists, repair short to power in wire(s) between climate control unit and air mix control motor. If short to power exists, climate control unit must be replaced. If voltage does not exist, check all wires for continuity between air mix control motor 5-pin connector and climate control unit connectors. If continuity does not exist in all wires, repair open in wire(s) between climate control unit and air mix control motor.
- If continuity exists, check for loose wires or poor connections at climate control unit 12 and 20-pin connectors, and air mix control motor 5-pin connector. If connections are okay, substitute known-good climate control unit and recheck. If symptom goes away with known-good climate control unit, replace original climate control unit.
