DTC 6-1: A/T Shift Position Signal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Acura 3.5RL and 1997 Acura 3.5RL. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect PCM 26-pin connector "E" and TCS control unit 20-pin connector. See Figure . Check for continuity between ground and PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6 (Pink/Blue wire). See Fig 1 . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Pink/Blue wire between PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6 and TCS control unit 20-pin connector terminal No. 5. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Reconnect PCM 26-pin connector "E". Ensure transmission is in Park position. Start engine. Measure voltage between ground and PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6 (Pink/Blue wire). See Fig 1 . Reading should be approximately 4 volts. If reading is as specified, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, check for poor connection to PCM. If connection is okay, replace PCM and retest system.
  3. With transmission in Park position, measure voltage between ground and TCS control unit 20-pin connector terminal No. 5 (Pink/Blue wire). See Figure . Reading should be approximately 4 volts. If reading is not as specified, repair open in Pink/Blue wire between TCS control unit 20-pin connector terminal No. 5 and PCM 26-pin connector "E" terminal No. 6. If reading is as specified, check for poor connection at TCS control unit. If connection is okay, replace TCS control unit.
