DTC 11, 13, 15 & 17: Wheel Sensor Circuit Open Or Shorted
- Disconnect ABS control unit 22-pin connector. Start engine. Using DVOM connected to ground, measure voltage at appropriate terminal of ABS control unit connector for specific DTC set as follows:
- DTC 11 - Terminal No. 9 (Green/Black wire) for right front wheel.
- DTC 13 - Terminal No. 7 (Green/Blue wire) for left front wheel.
- DTC 15 - Terminal No. 19 (Green/Yellow wire) for right rear wheel.
- DTC 17 - Terminal No. 17 (Light Blue wire) for left rear wheel.
See Figure . If reading is 2 volts or more, check for short to power in wire between ABS control unit and appropriate wheel speed sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is less than 2 volts, go to next step.
- Using DVOM, check for continuity to ground at appropriate positive terminal of ABS control unit for specific DTC set. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, check wire between ABS control unit and wheel speed sensor for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wire is okay, check wheel speed sensor for short to ground. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Check for open in affected wheel speed sensor circuit by measuring resistance between appropriate terminals of affected circuit as follows:
- DTC 11 - Terminal No. 9 (Green/Black wire) and terminal No. 8 (Green wire) for right front wheel.
- DTC 13 - Terminal No. 7 (Green/Blue wire) and terminal No. 6 (Brown wire) for left front wheel.
- DTC 15 - Terminal No. 19 (Green/Yellow wire) and terminal No. 20 (Blue/Yellow wire) for right rear wheel.
- DTC 17 - Terminal No. 17 (Light Blue wire) and terminal No. 18 (Gray wire) for left rear wheel.
- At 68°F (20°C), resistance should be 450-2050 ohms for any circuit. If resistance is as specified, check for poor terminal contact at ABS control unit. If connection is okay, replace ABS control unit. If resistance is not as specified, check circuit wiring for any opens or shorts. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If circuit wiring is okay, replace appropriate wheel speed sensor. See WHEEL SPEED SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
