SYMPTOM

The HomeLink Universal Transmitter works only when the vehicle is very close to the device being operated.

PROBABLE CAUSE

Faulty HomeLink unit.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the map light assembly (includes the HomeLink unit) with the appropriate new map light assembly listed under PARTS INFORMATION.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Remove the old map light assembly by prying off the lens, removing the two mounting screws, and disconnecting the 3P connector.

  2. Install the new map light assembly.
  3. Deprogram the HomeLink unit by holding down the first and third buttons for 20 to 30 seconds until the indicator light starts to flash.
