Park/Neutral Switch Test
- A/T gear shift lever switch connector is located above catalytic converter. Locate secondary HO2S connector under front passenger's seat carpet, disconnect HO2S connector and push through floor. Raise and support vehicle. Remove catalytic converter and heat shields. Disconnect A/T gear position switch Gray 10-pin connector.
- Connect an ohmmeter between A/T gear position switch Gray 10-pin connector terminals No. 8 (Black wire) and No. 10 (Gray wire). Move gear selector lever to Park and Neutral positions and check for continuity within free play range in each position.
- If continuity does not exist in either position, ensure A/T gear position switch is properly aligned (lock washer projected tip, located under control lever, is aligned with Neutral position mark on A/T gear position switch). If A/T gear position switch alignment is correct, replace switch. If switch alignment is not correct, loosen mounting bolts and move switch until lock washer projected tip is aligned with Neutral position mark. Recheck continuity. Tighten switch mounting bolts to 108 INCH lbs. (12 N.m).
