DTC P1519: Idle Air Control (IAC) Valve Circuit Failure

  1. Perform PCM reset procedure. See PCM RESET PROCEDURE/CLEARING CODES . Turn ignition on. If DTC P1519 sets, go to next step. If DTC P1519 does not set, problem is intermittent, system is okay at this time. Check for poor connections or loose wires between IAC valve 3-pin connector and PCM 32-pin connector. See the WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAC valve 3-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and IAC valve harness connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Black wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between IAC valve harness connector and PGM-FI main relay. See the WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  3. Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between ground and IAC valve 3-pin connector terminals No. 1 (Black wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between IAC 3-pin connector and G101 ground located on thermostat housing.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 32-pin connector. See Figure. Check for continuity between ground and PCM 32-pin connector terminal No. 12 (Black/Blue wire). If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short in Black/Blue wire between IAC valve and PCM.
  5. Check for continuity between IAC valve 3-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Blue wire) and PCM 32-pin connector terminal No. 12 (Black/Blue wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black/Blue wire between IAC valve and PCM.
  6. Reconnect IAC valve 3-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and PCM 32-pin connector terminal No. 12 (Black/Blue wire). If battery voltage is not present, replace IAC valve. If battery voltage is present, substitute a known-good PCM and recheck. If DTCs do not reset, replace original PCM.
