Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
- When ABS control unit detects a problem and ABS indicator light comes on, ABS control unit will store a DTC. ABS control unit can store up to 3 DTCs. The last DTC to be detected will be displayed first. If more than 3 DTCs are detected, the oldest DTC will be moved out of memory and lost.
- If the same problem occurs 3 times, all 3 DTCs will be stored in memory. DTCs will be erased from ABS control unit memory when ABS control unit power supply or connector is disconnected. ABS control unit memory can be erased by disconnecting ABS B2 (15-amp) fuse located in ABS fuse/relay block.
- When 2 or more DTCs are stored in ABS control unit, trouble shoot DTCs in order of appearance. If complaint cannot be verified, establish conditions present when ABS indicator light came on. If possible, test drive vehicle under similar conditions. If ABS indicator light does not come on during test drive, check for loose connectors and/or terminals. Shake wiring and connectors while diagnosing.
NOTE:
After repair is complete, test drive vehicle and ensure ABS indicator light does not come on.
