Brush Holder Test

  1. Check that there is no continuity between positive (+) and negative (-) brush holders. See Fig 1 . If continuity exists, replace brush holder assembly.
  2. Insert brush into brush holder, and bring brush into contact with commutator, then attach a spring scale to spring. Measure spring tension at moment spring lifts off brush.

    Spring Tension: 18-24 N (1.80-2.40 kg, 4.0-5.3 lb). See Fig 2 .
