Fitting Pistons
- Using a feeler gauge, measure piston-to-cylinder bore clearance. If clearance is near or exceeds 0.002" (0.05 mm), measure each piston and cylinder. If piston clearance exceeds service limit, re-bore cylinder and install oversize piston.
- Measure piston diameter at a point 0.6" (15 mm) from bottom of piston skirt. If diameter is not within specification, replace piston. See PISTONS, PINS & RINGS under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
