Linear Solenoid
- Linear solenoid is located on throttle valve body. Disconnect transaxle sub-harness connector. See Fig 1 .
- Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal No. 7 (Red wire) and terminal No. 8 (White wire).
- Resistance should be 4-6 ohms at 70°F (20°C). If resistance is not within specification, remove shift cable cover. Disconnect linear solenoid connector from transaxle sub-harness at the transaxle. Note terminal identification on linear solenoid connector.
- Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminal "C" (Red wire) and terminal "D" (White wire) of linear solenoid connector.
- Resistance should be 4-6 ohms at 70°F (20°C). If resistance is okay, replace transaxle sub-harness. Replace linear solenoid if resistance is not within specification.
- To check linear solenoid operation, connect positive battery terminal to terminal "C" and negative battery terminal to terminal "D" of linear solenoid connector.
- Clicking sound should be heard, indicating linear solenoid operation. Replace linear solenoid if solenoid fails to operate.
NOTE:
Linear solenoid and throttle valve body must be replaced as an assembly.
