Immobilizer System Function Test

NOTE: On vehicles equipped with immobilizer system, engine start time will be slightly longer than on vehicles without immobilizer system.
  1. Ensure transmission selector is in Park position and brake pedal is depressed. Insert key into ignition switch and turn to START position. System indicator light will illuminate for 2 seconds and go out. Engine should start.
  2. If system indicator light begins to flash after 2 seconds or engine does not start, remove key and repeat starting procedure. If engine still does not start, check immobilizer control unit input and immobilizer receiver and transponder (key). See procedures under IMMOBILIZER CONTROL UNIT INPUT TEST  under SYSTEM TESTS and IMMOBILIZER RECEIVER & TRANSPONDER (KEY) TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS.
