DTC P1336 & P1337: Crankshaft SPD Fluctuation Sensor

  1. Connect and operate scan tester, following manufacturer's instructions. Clear codes. Turn ignition on. Retrieve codes. If DTC P1336 or P1337 appears, go to next step. If neither code appears, problem is intermittent. Inspect for poor connections or loose wires associated with CKF sensor, then repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Unplug CKF sensor. Measure resistance between sensor terminals No. 1 (Red wire) and 2 (White wire). If resistance is 800-1500 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 800-1500 ohms, replace sensor.
  3. Test each sensor terminal for continuity to ground. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace sensor.
  4. Reconnect wiring to sensor. Unplug PCM harness connector "C". See Figure . Measure resistance between terminals No. 4 (White/Red wire) and 5 (Blue/Red wire) at PCM connector "C". If resistance is 800-1500 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 500-1000 ohms, repair open in White/Red, or Blue/Red wires between CKF sensor and PCM.
  5. Test for continuity between ground and terminals No. 4 (White/Red wire) and 5 (Blue/Red wire) at PCM connector "C". If continuity exists, repair shorted White/Red or Blue/Red wire. If continuity does not exist, temporarily substitute known good PCM, then retest system.
