IGNITOR Unit

Battery voltage is supplied through the ignition switch to the ignition coil(s) and igniter unit. The PGM-FI control unit uses input signals from TDC/crank (or crank/CYL) sensor, throttle position sensor, coolant sensor, and MAP sensor to directly energize the igniter. When energized, the igniter triggers the ignition coil(s). Voltage from the ignition coil is then distributed to each spark plug by the distributor.
