Code 30 Or 31: A/T FI Signal

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove BACK-UP fuse (10-amp) from underhood fuse/relay box for 10 seconds to reset ECM. Test drive vehicle for at least 5 miles, allowing transaxle to upshift and downshift. Check ECM for fault codes. If Code 30 or 31 is not present, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections at Transmission Control Module (TCM) or ECM connectors. Test drive vehicle and retest.
  2. If Code 30 or 31 is present, turn ignition off. Connect ECM Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) to ECM wiring harness connectors, leaving ECM disconnected. See Figure . Disconnect 22-pin connector from TCM. Check for continuity between body ground and test terminal B3 (Code 30) or B4 (Code 31).
  3. If continuity is present, repair short in White/Green (Code 30) or White/Red (Code 31) wire between ECM connector and TCM. If continuity is not present, check White/Green wire or White/Red wire continuity between ECM and TCM wiring harness connectors. Repair wire if continuity is not present. If continuity is present, replace ECM and retest.
