Shift Control Cable
- Start engine. Shift to Reverse. Ensure transaxle engages in Reverse. With engine off, remove console. Shift gear selector into NEUTRAL position, and remove lock pin from cable adjuster. Insert a 6-mm pin into select lever bracket through lock pin sliding hole. See Fig 1
.CAUTION: Ensure a 6-mm pin is used.
- Verify shift position is in "N" position on transaxle. See Fig 2 . Verify index mark of indicator aligns with "N" mark of shift indicator panel. If marks are not aligned, remove indicator panel mounting screws and adjust by removing panel. Turn ignition switch to ON position, and verify "N" indicator light comes on.
- Ensure hole in adjuster is perfectly aligned with hole in shift cable. Two holes in end of shift cable are positioned at 90 degrees to allow cable adjustments in 1/4-turn increments. Loosen lock nut on shift cable, and adjust if necessary. See Fig 3 . Tighten lock nut. Install lock pin on adjuster.
- Remove 6-mm pin from select lever bracket. Shift select lever to "P" position. Pull select lever without pressing select lever knob and measure movement from console. Movement should be no more than 0.16" (4.0 mm). If movement is greater than 0.16" (4.0 mm), readjust alignment holes in adjuster and shift cable.
- Move select lever through all gears and verify shift lever indicator follows shift position sensor. Start engine, and verify shift lever selection of all gears.
