Rotation Sensor
The rotation sensor is housed inside steering gearbox near pinion. It converts rotation speed and direction of steering into voltage signals. The rotation of steering wheel is transmitted to pinion, which drives sensor by accelerating its speed through three pieces of transmission gears. Acting as a kind of direct current generator, sensor generates direct current voltage proportionately with rotational speed of pinion. When steering direction is reversed, voltage is generated in opposite direction. No power is generated when driving straight ahead without turning steering wheel. See Figure .
