Idle Speed: Notes

The Idle Air Control (IAC) valve receives signal from the ECM and controls the idle speed of the engine by changing the amount of air into the intake manifold. When the IAC valve is activated, the valve opens to maintain proper idle speed. There is also a fast idle thermo valve, allowing greater airflow when engine coolant temperature is low enough to open a thermowax plunger.
