Deflection Method
Apply a force of 98 N (10 kg. 22 lb) and measure deflection between alternator and crankshaft pulley. Deflection should be between 12-14 mm (0.47-0.55"). See Fig 1 .
NOTE:
On a brand-new belt, deflection should be 7-9 mm (0.28-0.35") when first measured. If there are cracks or any damage evident on belt, replace with a new one.
