Code 14: Idle Air Control Valve (IACV)

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove ACG fuse (No. 15, 7.5-amp) from underdash fuse box for 10 seconds to reset ECM. Check ECM for fault codes. If Code 14 is not present, start engine and allow to idle. Disconnect 2-pin connector from IACV. If engine speed is not reduced, replace IACV. If engine speed is reduced, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections at ECM, IACV and wire harness connectors. Test drive vehicle and retest.
  2. If Code 14 is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect 2-pin connector from IACV. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Yellow/Black wire and body ground. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Yellow/Black wire between IACV and main relay. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition off. Reconnect 2-pin connector.
  3. Attach connector "A" of ECM Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) to ECM wiring harness, leaving ECM disconnected. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using a jumper wire, touch test terminal A9 to test terminal A23 several times. If IACV does not click, repair open or short circuit in Blue/Red wire between IACV and ECM connectors. If wire is okay, replace IACV. If IACV clicks, replace ECM and retest.
