Radiator Fan Control Sensor
CAUTION:
Bleed air out of the cooling system after installing the radiator fan control sensor.Failure to comply with the bleeding procedure could cause imperfect bleeding, which may result in severe engine damage. Bleed air out of the cooling system after installing the radiator fan control sensor.Failure to comply with the bleeding procedure could cause imperfect bleeding, which may result in severe engine damage.
WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. The coolant is under pressure and may blow out and scald you. Open the cap slowly when the engine is cool.
- Remove the radiator fan control sensor from the thermostat housing.
- Suspend the radiator fan control sensor in a container of engine oil or water. See Fig 1.
- Heat the engine oil or water to specification, and check the temperature with a thermometer. See RADIATOR FAN CONTROL SENSOR RESISTANCE .
- Measure the resistance between the A and B terminals according to the table.RADIATOR FAN CONTROL SENSOR RESISTANCE
Temperature, °F (°C) Resistance (Ohms) 183 (84) 1047-1255 194 (90) 872-1024 226 (108) 519-573 230 (110) 489-541 - If you don't get the correct readings, replace the radiator fan control sensor.
- Fill and bleed air from cooling system.
