Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch

  1. Remove coolant temperature switch or sensor. On Vigor, one sensor is located on thermostat housing, the other is threaded into the lower radiator tank, on the driver's side.
  2. Suspend switch and a thermometer in a container partially filled with coolant. Heat coolant while monitoring temperature. Measure sensor resistance or check for continuity at temperatures specified. See TEMPERATURE SENSOR/SWITCH SPECIFICATIONS table.
  3. If continuity or resistance is not as specified, replace sensor or switch. If continuity or resistance is as specified, check relay and all related wiring. See RADIATOR FAN CONTROL MODULE & FAN CONTROL UNIT.
