Removal & Installation
CAUTION:
Legend "L" and "LS" models are equipped with a code protected radio/cassette player. Ensure 5-digit code is available, before disconnecting battery cables, removing radio fuse or radio/cassette player.
- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Remove starter cable from starter motor bracket. Disconnect starter cable from starter solenoid terminals "B" (battery cable) and "S" (Black/White wire).
- Remove starter motor bracket. Remove exhaust "Y" pipe.
- Remove 2 starter mounting bolts. Being careful not to damage driveshaft boot, remove starter by rotating starter 180 degrees back and forth, guiding starter down between upper arm and driveshaft.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . When installing starter cable, ensure that crimped side of ring terminal is facing out.
NOTE:
On some models, drive axle removal may be required. See appropriate DRIVE AXLE article.
