Cranking Test

  1. Connect a voltmeter and ammeter to battery. See Fig 1 . Disconnect 8-pin and 6-pin connectors from ignition control module. Ignition control module is located on right side of engine compartment.
  2. Use remote starter switch to crank engine. Check cranking voltage and current draw. Ensure voltage is at least 8 volts. Current draw should be less than 350 amps. Cranking speed should be above 100 RPM.
